CAF Shocks Algeria Over “Morocco CAN 2025”
A reliable source within the Confederation of African Football (CAF) revealed a firm rejection of the Algerian Football Federation’s attempts to influence Morocco’s hosting of the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.
The source clarified that Algeria, following its qualification for the finals, is seeking specific guarantees regarding the safety of its delegation, which CAF has entirely rejected.
The source pointed out that CAF considers Algeria, like the other participating teams, will receive the same treatment, and any attempt to inject politics into sports will not be welcomed.
It also emphasized that Morocco enjoys full independence in organizing the tournament, and CAF trusts its ability to deliver a world-class organization, especially after successfully hosting numerous major sports events.
The source warned that any withdrawal by Algeria from participating in the tournament would lead to severe penalties, following the incidents that occurred during the match between RS Berkane and CR Belouizdad in the CAF Confederation Cup, which tarnished the reputation of African football.
The source also confirmed that Morocco has provided all necessary guarantees to ensure the safety of all participating teams, including accommodation, transportation, training fields, and crowd protection.
