Raja Casablanca has not forgotten its former Algerian goalkeeper, Merbah Gaya.

Injured on Wednesday, September 18, during a friendly match between his club, JS Kabylie, and US Biskra, the Kabyle keeper sustained a severe injury. He suffered a double fracture of his left leg. He successfully underwent surgery this morning at the University Hospital Center of Tizi-Ouzou. He will be out of action for several months.

Considered the most significant summer transfer before the signing of Ryadh Boudebouz, who joined just hours before the transfer window closed, Merbah Gaya, 30, was promoted by coach Abdelhak Benchikha to captain of the Kabyle team.

Having worn the colors of Raja Casablanca during the 2022-2023 season, before moving to IR Tanger (2023-2024), the leaders of Morocco’s most popular club did not forget their former Algerian international goalkeeper in this painful circumstance. Through their Facebook page, Raja’s officials, players, and supporters sent their best wishes for a speedy recovery to their former goalkeeper. A gesture that is not surprising from a club maintaining excellent relations with Algerian clubs, notably JSK and MC Algiers.
