The Republic of Ghana has decided to suspend its diplomatic relations with the so-called “RASD”
In the context of the ongoing efforts led by His Majesty King Mohammed VI to resolve the issue of the Moroccan Sahara, the Republic of Ghana has decided to suspend its diplomatic relations with the so-called “Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic.” This decision was formally communicated through an official document from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration of the Republic of Ghana, addressed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates of the Kingdom of Morocco.
The Republic of Ghana stated that it would immediately inform, through diplomatic channels, the Government of the Kingdom of Morocco, the African Union, and the United Nations of this position.
In the same document, Ghana expressed its support for the “sincere efforts” of the Kingdom of Morocco in reaching a solution that is accepted by all parties involved.
It is worth noting that the Republic of Ghana had recognized the so-called “Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic” in 1979.
Since His Majesty King Mohammed VI took charge of the Moroccan Sahara issue, 46 countries, including 13 African nations, have broken or suspended their relations with the so-called “Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic” since 2000.
