What is happening between Morocco and Algeria is not a conflict

It is mistaken and delusional to describe what is happening between Morocco and Algeria as a “conflict,” because the concept of conflict assumes the existence of two opposing parties competing to achieve divergent or contradictory goals. However, the reality shows that what is happening from Algeria against Morocco is not a conflict in its conventional sense but rather a state of resentment and hatred driven by the Algerian regime’s policies against Morocco, sadly fueled by an ideology deeply rooted in the halls of Algerian power.
The Algerian regime, facing a real internal conflict with its own people, strives to mask this internal tension by exporting its crises abroad. In this context, Morocco is used as an “external enemy” to justify the regime’s failures and divert Algerian public opinion away from its true demands for democracy, development, and respect for human rights.
This artificial hostility toward Morocco does not represent the opinion of the brotherly Algerian people, who share profound historical and cultural ties with Moroccans. Instead, it is part of the Algerian regime’s strategy to divert attention from internal crises such as corruption, resource mismanagement, and the lack of freedoms.
It is, therefore, necessary to clarify the difference between a legitimate conflict, based on differences in interests and positions, or even competition, and a state of hostility that relies on stoking hatred and sowing resentment to achieve narrow political goals. Consequently, it must be corrected that what is happening between Morocco and Algeria is not a true conflict between two states equal in positions, but rather a reflection of an internal conflict in Algeria, masked by the creation of a fictitious enemy called Morocco.
Thus, we Moroccans must continue to adopt a wise approach focused on development, national unity, and extending a hand of cooperation to brotherly peoples, including the Algerian people, who are well aware of the reality of this situation.
