Women Serial Killer” Who Admitted to Killing 42 Escapes from Prison

Kenyan police announced on Tuesday the launch of a large-scale manhunt following the escape of a man who allegedly confessed to killing 42 women and dismembering their bodies from a police prison cell in Nairobi, along with dozens of other prisoners.
Collins Jomisi, 33, whom Kenyan police described as a “vampire and mentally disturbed,” was arrested last month after mutilated bodies were found in a dumpsite in a slum area of the Kenyan capital.
Kenyan police spokeswoman Resila Onyango told AFP that “investigations have begun, and a large-scale security operation has been launched to try to capture the 13 suspects.”
In a separate statement, the police explained that they learned of the escape when officers were conducting a routine visit to the police station’s cells around 5:00 AM to serve breakfast to the prisoners.
She added: “Upon opening the cell door, they discovered that 13 prisoners had escaped by cutting through the fence” in an area where the prisoners exercise.
The escapees include Jomisi and 12 others, who the police said are of Eritrean origin and were detained as “illegal immigrants.”
The police station is located in the upscale Gigiri area of Nairobi, which houses the regional headquarters of the United Nations and a large number of embassies.
This is the second time in just six months that a suspect in a high-profile case has escaped from prison.
In February, Kevin Kang’ethe, accused of killing his girlfriend in the United States last year and leaving her body in an airport parking lot, escaped from a Kenyan police station before being recaptured about a week later.
