For the First Time.. the Ukrainian Forces Deploy British “Challenger 2” Tanks in an Attack on Russian Territory

Ukrainian forces are currently using the British “Challenger 2” main battle tank in combat operations in the Kursk region of Russia.

This marks the first use of these tanks since the outbreak of the Russo-Ukrainian war. The United Kingdom donated 14 tanks last year, which are operated by the 82nd Ukrainian Air Assault Brigade.

The British Ministry of Defense had previously confirmed on August 15, 2024, that the weapons provided by Britain, including Challenger 2 tanks, could be used by Ukrainian forces in operations on Russian territory, despite ongoing restrictions on the use of long-range Storm Shadow missiles.

The Challenger 2 is one of the most advanced main battle tanks in the world, featuring a wide range of combat capabilities and technical features that set it apart from older Soviet-era tanks like the T-72 and T-84, which are still used by the Ukrainian army.
