Belgian Council of Muslim Scholars Condemns La Grande-Combe Mosque Attack

Following the attack on the “La Grande-Combe” mosque in southeastern France, we received a statement from the President of the Belgian Council of Muslim Scholars, which we publish in full:
*”In the name of the Belgian Council of Muslim Scholars, we strongly condemn the cowardly terrorist attack that targeted the ‘La Grande-Combe’ mosque in southeastern France, resulting in the death of an innocent worshipper. We express our deep sadness and outrage at this heinous crime, which reflects hatred and intolerance, and we emphasize that such acts have no connection with the values of peace and tolerance in Islam.
We extend our sincere condolences to the family of the victim and to the entire Muslim community in France, and we pray to Allah to grant the deceased His infinite mercy and to give patience and comfort to their loved ones. We also call on the French and European authorities to intensify their efforts to combat hate speech and extremism, protect places of worship, and ensure the safety of all citizens without discrimination.
We reaffirm the importance of strengthening interfaith and intercultural dialogue to build bridges of understanding and cooperation, address shared challenges, preserve social peace, and ensure justice for all.”*
